Our mission is to create spaces that make people feel inspired and at home. We believe in quality, precision, and going beyond expectations. Every project is personal to us, and we put our hearts into every detail to make sure it’s perfect. For us, it’s not just about designing interiors; it’s about crafting experiences that last.

Chimento Design is a marine interiors contractor specialised in cruise ships, delivering complete solutions from design and engineering to production, logistics and onboard installation.
Founded and led by Fabio Chimento, the company has grown by combining the flexibility of an entrepreneurial business with the organisation and capabilities needed to manage complex cruise projects. We work directly with shipowners, shipyards, designers and contractors, on both newbuild and refit projects across the cruise industry.
Our strength is managing the entire process. From the first technical and shop drawings, through material sourcing, engineering, production, quality control and logistics, to the final installation on board, we take responsibility for the result.
Our teams work in Italy and internationally, wherever the project takes us. Our production network and specialised partners let us handle different materials and disciplines (upholstered and loose furniture, woodwork, metal structures, wall panels and custom-made interiors) while keeping direct control over quality and execution.

We believe successful marine interiors take more than design. They take precision, coordination, reliability and the ability to solve problems when it matters most: on board, against real project deadlines. That is why we built Chimento Design around a simple principle: we don’t just supply products, we manage projects.
Today our work is on board ships of some of the world’s leading cruise brands, in newbuilds and refits, in shipyards and dry docks in Italy, Europe and beyond.

Engineering, production, project management, logistics, quality control and onboard installation sit in one organisation, and one team coordinates every stage.
Design Development & Engineering
Bespoke elements are designed, engineered for the marine environment and specified before production, materials included. A dedicated feasibility study can come first, to confirm stability and precision.
On record: EXPLORA III, Explora Journeys. The Magrodome teak dividers, designed in-house, woven by hand in Italy and preceded by a feasibility study.

Bespoke Production
Loose furniture, upholstery, built-in cabinetry, bulkhead cladding and decorative elements are produced to drawing in marine-grade woods, textiles and metals, many of them Italian.
On record: Mein Schiff Relax, TUI Cruises. The Kids Garden, every element produced in Italy.
Pre-Assembly & Quality Control
Components can be pre-assembled and quality-checked in Italy before shipping, so the fit is confirmed ashore and installation on board stays fast and controlled.
On record: EXPLORA III, Explora Journeys. Every Nautilus Club component pre-assembled and quality-checked in Italy, then shipped and installed on board.
View ProjectProject Management & Logistics
One project team coordinates production, logistics and delivery against the shipyard or dry-dock schedule, alongside the other contractors on board. Decisions are taken without layers of management, so urgent problems are resolved quickly.
On record: MSC World America, MSC Cruises. Seating, tables and poufs for restaurants, lounges and public areas, supplied over a year and a half in close contact with the MSC Cruises team.
Onboard Installation
Teams install on board new ships before delivery and on ships in service, where tight schedules, dry-dock windows and several contractors working at once are normal conditions.
On record: MSC Splendida, Palumbo Shipyards, Valletta. Restaurant, Foyer, Meeting Area and Reception renewed in dry dock and completed on schedule.
Finishing, Handover & After-Sales
Finishing and handover close the work on board. After delivery, maintenance and quick-response support cover repairs, updates and the long-term care of the furnishings installed.
On record: Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. Refit and interior outfitting under way on board Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises ships, from production through to finishing and handover, with completion scheduled by the end of 2026.
