With Explora III, the newest luxury ship of Explora Journeys entering service in July 2026, Chimento Design contributed to one of the spaces dedicated to the youngest guests: the Nautilus Club, a cruise ship kids area designed to offer children and teenagers a stimulating, contemporary and functional environment.
Chimento Design handled the complete fit-out of the Kids Area, taking care of every stage of the process, from the production of bespoke elements, bulkheads and built-in units, through to final installation on board.
A Fully Custom Cruise Ship Kids Area
Every furnishing in the Nautilus Club was produced entirely to measure. The work included the custom joinery of the bespoke units, the integration of the bulkheads into the surrounding architecture, and the precise fitting of the built-in furniture so that each element sits flush and seamless within the space. Because the environment is dedicated to children, every element was engineered with rounded edges, safe and durable finishes, and impact-resistant surfaces suited to intensive daily use at sea.
Materials Built for the Marine Environment
Working in a cruise ship kids area means meeting the strict technical requirements of the marine sector. All materials were selected and treated to withstand humidity, temperature variation and the constant movement of the vessel, while remaining easy to clean and maintain. Each component was pre-assembled and quality-checked in Italy before being shipped and installed on board, ensuring a perfect fit and a fast, controlled installation phase.
Functionality, Comfort and Design
The result is an environment designed to combine functionality, comfort and design, helping to create a dedicated experience for younger guests that blends harmoniously into the elegant, contemporary identity of Explora III (opens in a new tab). For Chimento Design, this collaboration represents another important project in the field of marine interior and high-end contract furniture, confirming the company’s ability to manage complex, fully custom work — from production through to final installation.
