How We Deliver

From Workshop to Vessel

Four places where our work happens, each with a job on record.

  1. An upholsterer fitting fabric to a chair frame in the workshop, with a seamstress at a sewing machine behind

    Upholstery, produced to drawing

    In Italy

    Designed In-House, Produced to Drawing.

    • Loose Furniture
    • Upholstery Service

Loose furniture, upholstery, built-in cabinetry and bulkhead cladding are produced to drawing in marine-grade woods, textiles and metals. For the Magrodome on Explora III, the teak dividers were designed in-house and woven by hand in Italy; the same woven teak language is reinterpreted across the curved counters.

  2. The Nautilus Club on Explora III: coloured portal niches with screens, red poufs and grey rockers

    At the Yard

    Checked Ashore. Installed on Board.

    • New Build

On a new build, our teams install on board before delivery. Every Nautilus Club component for Explora III, at Fincantieri Sestri Ponente in Genova, was pre-assembled and quality-checked in Italy, then shipped and installed on board.

  3. An MSC cruise ship in dry dock between yellow cranes, seen across the harbour water

    In Dry Dock

Four Public Areas. One Dry-Dock Window.

    • Refurbishment

On ships in service, tight schedules, dry-dock windows and several contractors working at once are normal conditions. On MSC Splendida, at Palumbo Shipyards in Valletta, the Restaurant, Foyer, Meeting Area and Reception were renewed and completed on schedule.

  4. The Pool Area on Deck 5 of Explora II

    At Sea

Designed for the Sea. Supported After Handover.

    • Project Management

After delivery, maintenance and quick-response support cover repairs, updates and the long-term care of the furnishings installed. On Explora II, the sun loungers and cushions of the Pool Area on Deck 5 use the DryFeel System, designed to withstand the marine environment.

“Chimento Design is a company with little bureaucracy: decisions do not have to go through ten different managers before they are taken.”
